Description
Position Overview Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation depending on specialty can range from $315,000-$500,000. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
Position description The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UC Irvine is recruiting a board eligible/certified Neuro-Ophthalmologist for all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) in either the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (non-senate) or the Professor of Clinical "X" series (senate).
Applicants must hold an MD, DO, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, or equivalent and be eligible for California Medical Licensure.
Successful candidates must be Neurology or Ophthalmology board eligible/certified. They will be expected to fulfill the following four criteria: (a) Teaching — including supervision of Neuro-Ophthalmology fellows, Ophthalmology/Neurology residents, and medical students; (b) Professional competence and activity — demonstrating professional excellence; (c) Creative work or Scholarly/creative activity — showing academic achievement; and (d) University and public service.
Applicants who have completed Neuro-Ophthalmology fellowship training and have surgical experience in related areas (strabismus, orbit/oculoplastics) are encouraged to apply.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UCI is a premier tertiary care academic department with strength and robust programs within all subspecialty areas of ophthalmology. In addition to a highly sought-after residency program, fellowship programs in every subspecialty area are offered. The department’s research productivity ranks highly in terms of NIH funding (9th in the nation) with extensive facilities and infrastructure available. Our Division of Neuro-ophthalmology is among the largest and diverse in the country, comprised of 5 fellowship-trained physicians with varied clinical and surgical areas of expertise. We train one fellow per year, through our AUPO-compliant training program. We enjoy strong, active collaborations with Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuro-Oncology and Rheumatology colleagues within UCI and the surrounding community. Clinical volume is robust, hence the need to grow further by welcoming another outstanding team-oriented colleague.
